What is a Fractional CTO?

A Fractional Chief Technology Officer is available on a contract basis to solve problems as needed without the larger and longer term costs of a full time employee.

What kind of problems can a Fractional CTO solve?

CTO’s are typically involved in two very different areas that compete for their time:

• The urgent work of supporting the dev teams with user story focus, process support, design review, automation planning and product launch activities
• The urgent work of preparing the company for the projects that the dev teams will be executing in six months time through roadmap development, customer and prospect evaluations, reports to the management team and internal team development

How can a Fractional CTO help?

A Fractional CTO can help usually by handling immediate tasks in support of the dev team or by putting another set of eyes on the product roadmap, vetting aspects of the roadmap with existing customers and any other tasks that need the additional preparation that leads to project success.

A Fractional CTO can be contracted either to help an in-place CTO, handle a CTO vacancy or to support a new CTO.
